Why Test Mana Leech in PoE 2: U4GM Idle Hands Tips
Paying a premium for fashionable attack gloves delivers poor value if your build cannot sustain its rotation. Before committing Path of Exile 2 Currency to another damage upgrade, check whether resource pressure is already limiting your attacks. Idle Hands targets that overlooked expense: keeping Mana high enough to maintain attack speed, rather than adding damage to a rotation you cannot afford.
Buy sustained speed, not a tooltip promise
Idle Hands grants 25% increased Attack Speed while on Full Mana and treats your character as being on Full Mana at 90% of maximum Mana. That leaves a spending buffer, but only the upper tenth of your pool protects the condition.
The distinction matters: increased Attack Speed is not automatically 25% more damage. Its contribution depends on your existing modifiers, while faster attacks can also increase Mana consumption over time. A promising equipment comparison can therefore conceal weaker performance during sustained combat.
Increased maximum Mana, Mana Cost Efficiency, and physical attack Mana leech support the same objective. They help fund repeated attacks, but none independently proves that the speed bonus will stay active.
The overlooked pairing is physical damage and cost control
The strongest budget case is Idle Hands paired with a physical attack that already has manageable costs. Its 4-6% physical attack damage leeched as Mana rewards eligible damage, while cost efficiency reduces pressure on the recovery you need.
This interaction is easy to undervalue when comparing gloves through headline damage or resistance totals. Conversely, characters dealing little eligible physical damage should not assume the leech modifier will solve their resource problems.
With a level requirement of 28, the gloves deserve consideration during campaign progression, particularly when your weapon is adequate but attacks repeatedly stall. Their hidden utility is smoother combat: less time waiting for resources can matter more than a larger individual hit.
Idle Hands or rare gloves: choose the missing function
Compare Idle Hands against rare gloves with life, resistances, and useful attack modifiers. The better purchase depends on whether your character lacks resource stability or defensive coverage.
Decision Idle Hands Rare gloves
Primary strength Conditional attack speed Flexible defensive coverage
Best candidate Efficient physical attacker Character missing defenses
Main limitation High Mana requirement Variable upgrade cost
Progression role Campaign sustain option Targeted endgame repair
Idle Hands wins when you can maintain its condition without creating defensive gaps. Rare gloves win when surviving encounters requires more life or resistances. If replacing those defenses elsewhere costs more than the gloves save, the apparent bargain disappears.
Test before investing in the surrounding build
Use ordinary farming encounters and a sustained boss fight. Short packs can hide resource problems because downtime between groups lets Mana recover; bosses expose whether your recovery actually supports continuous attacks.
Equip the gloves without changing other equipment so their effect remains clear.
Watch whether repeated attacks push Mana below the required threshold.
Test your normal utility skills alongside your main attack.
Keep your previous gloves until both survival and sustained damage improve.
Carry Idle Hands toward endgame only while those tests remain favorable. Treat Path of Exile 2 Currency for sale as a spending decision, not evidence that an upgrade is necessary. Secure reliable defenses and an effective weapon before paying heavily to preserve one conditional glove bonus.
